David Bowie Passes

Sad news today. At the age of 69, just three days after the release of his latest album, Blackstar (★), and his birthday David Bowie has passed. Truly sad news. David Bowie and his music have become a big part of my life. I loved listening to his albums and learning how they were made and learning about him and sharing those stories with my friends. I give my sincerest wishes to his family. Rest in peace, David Bowie. And thank you.

Flip Shott!! nowe Announced

Fake World Studios (FWS), based in Denver, Colorado, announces an exciting new card game for the ages! Flip Shott!! Stand-Allen Edition nowe. The president of FWS and lead programmer, Thomas Novak said in an interview that "[Flip Shott!!] eschews modern day graphics that limit today games and instead focuses on delivering on its core gameplay and freedom. I didn't want gamers to play how I wanted them to play, but for them to play how they want to play. Graphics and money..., and money get in the way of that freedom of play." Flip Shott!! has an impressive amount of game modes and customization options allow players to truly play their way.

The game has apparently been in development for 7 years but has had some trouble through it long development. The game bears a striking resemblance to the Nomuraworks 1978 classic game, Shoy Schot! When confronted on this Novak was quoted as saying, "So should EA sue Activision?" Also, because of its long development the game has undergone a lot of changes which seem to be to the cause of its subpar superb graphics.

Flip Shott!! Stand-Allen Edition nowe was released two days ago; very strange, seeing as the official announcement was just moments ago. This seems to has been because of undisclosed legal reasons. Anyway, Flip Shott!! is available for download off FWS' game site (fws.flipshott.com/nowe) for $67.94. The game is currently only available for PC, but Novak believes a Mac, iOS, and Android version will be available by the end of the year. He also promises a 'huge' DLC pack this summer. Stay tuned.

UPDATE 1 (4/1/13): The website appears to be down. Check back later. Added Logos.

Mars Volta On Hiatus, Bosnian Rainbows Shine

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has decided to put his baby, The Mars Volta, on an indefinite hiatus and it has been so since September. However, the as working Omar has created a new band, Bosnian Rainbows, along with fellow Mars Volta alumni Deantoni Parks on drum, Teri Gender Bender of Le Butcherettes as lead vocalist, and Nicci Kasper on the keyboard. Bosnian Rainbows is touring right and performing all new material! After listening to a few of their songs I can honestly I love this new band and wait to hear more. Omar remarks that this band is actually a band and that he is not "dictator" here but a team player--there a collaborative effort here. It's a bit sad to see Mars Volta on hiatus, but everyone is working on projects and Bosnian Rainbows one hell of a start. Check out videos and pictures of the band after the jump! Go now; they're awesome!

Also, check out a full interview with Omar from CityArtsOnline.com in the source.

UPDATE 1 (2/19/13):
Mars Volta has officially disbanded. Cedric Bixler-Zavala gave a statement few weeks ago. Truly sad, but this is how things are sometimes. We do have the awesome Bosnian Rainbows to look forward too, as well as something from Cedric in the near future.

Site News + The Plan: Elevator Music

Okay, I'm going to be working on a new project this summer called, Elevator Music, more info here, but here is my work plan for it in the next two paragraphs. Also, I'm learning to program a game in Unity3D, see my progress here. Lastly, I messed around with live streaming and found out it's mostly too much for my computer to handle, but I may use it again in the future (I don't have a mic or camera that can connect to live stream services so it will be interesting to try for real).

My with working on Elevator Music is starting doing daily 1 hour free writing sessions. This will help me keep a consist work pace. Also, this should help me do the next three things faster: Finish giving everyone a name; finish writing the detailed season outline (I pretty have the general outline complete in my head and a detailed outline of episode 1 done. Also more general outlines of seasons 2-5 in my head); finish writing the first script. After that on to episode 2 and so on to episode 6. Then normal polishing and editing and I will like to pass the script around and see what others think of it. Maybe some more polishing and editing after that. This is my plan for now.

I’m also thinking about probably doing weekly video updates, but sides the on-going pilot I kinda want the story to be a surprise until I finish that writing that episode. So, what would I talk about? I’m thinking about it. I’ll see.

          Seeya.

Hedge-Fund Manager Allegedly Attained $900,000 Through Inside Tips

Roomy Khan pictured above
Doug Whitman, North Californian hedge-fund manager, allegedly attained $900,000 for his company through insider tips on technology firms. Whitman, 54, is said to have traded confidential information on publicly traded companies as well as payed for tips, specifically tips from Karl Motey and neighbor and business associate Roomy Khan between 2006-2007 on companies such as Polycon Inc. and Google. Both, Motey and Khan have pleaded guilty to their own instances of insider-trading and are currently working with authorities to testify against others of similar crimes. Whitman’s case is one that stems from a larger insider-trading case against Raj Rajaratnam, founder Galleon Group. Whitman has pleaded not guilty and was released on a $1.5 million bond. Whitman’s lawyer holds that he traded using only lawful research and information.

Navy To Test Fire Prototype Railgun Next Week

The Navy is set to fire off a sufficient number of shots to test the BAE Systems-built version Railgun's barrrel structural integrity and life. The railgun is designed to fire the same rounds as the ones aboard U.S. warships. The gun works by propelling the round through the barrel not by gunpowder but by the electomagnets lined inside the gun. The Navy is planning the fully developed version to fire its rounds at speeds of Mach 7.

Once the Railgun is complete it is expected so save the Navy millions in maintence cost since the weapon uses electromagnetic energy and won't have to use traditional rounds. Watch a video of it below.
