Best Quote of the Week ~ [12/22/13]

The Course of Empire: The Savage State by Thomas Cole (1836)

"West, West! Whitherward point hope and prophet-fingers, whitherward at sunset kneel all worshipers of fire, whitherward in mid-ocean the great whales turn to die, whitherward face all the Moslem dead in Persia, whitherward lie Heaven and Hell!"
~A Passage from Herman Melville's Mardi: And Voyage Thither

Best Quote of the Week ~ [5/12/13]

Isolation by Geri Johnstone

"I'm writing this letter at an outdoor cafe on a side street in Rome, sipping espresso as thick as the devil's sweat, and I have this strange feeling that I'm not myself anymore. It's hard to put into words, but I guess it's like I was fast asleep, and somebody came, disassembled me, and hurriedly put me back together again....My eyes tell me I'm the same old me, but something's different from usual. Not that I can clearly recall what 'usual' was."
~Sumire (from Haruki Murakami's Sputnik Sweetheart; [Never read the book, so I don't know the chapter or page number])

Artist Find! Loish

Find Loish's work at Loish.net
Yesterday night I found this really amazing Dutch artist, Loish (a.k.a. Lois Van Baarle). Her artwork is really beautiful and she uses color to great effect, often using a variety of different colors in the same piece to create a vivid and unique look. The color never clash, creating a wildly creative world that you want to be in. If you would like to see more of her work visit her site, Loish.net, or her tumblr page: here. I'll provided a good number of her awesome artwork after the jump. Check it out and visit her site!

Best Quote of the Week ~ [4/1/12]

Chateau Noir by Paul Cezanne
I came to explore the wreck.
The words are purposes.
The words are maps.
I came to see the damage that was done
and the treasures that prevail.

Seriously, How Old Is The Blonde One?

Okay, I've got a question: How old do you think the blonde chick in this book is? I thinks she looks X age but the book says she is Y age. I don't want to lead anyone's answer so I'm not giving away the book's title or author or what I think and what the book claims. Because maybe I'm crazy and everyone in the world thinks she's Y age.
So, tell me your answer. I scanned a bunch of picture from the book. Man, this drove me crazy while I was reading the book. Anyway, the rest of the pictures are after the jump.

P.S.: My 100th post!

Video Find!: Japan and Color

I somehow found these three cool videos online just now. They're all Japanese with the last two being made my the same person (I think?). The first video, Loop Pool, by Daiki Aizawa is a short video that seem dream like with it's ambient music (which Aizawa also created) and cool visual. It's about the cycle or flow of life or food chain. The last two videos, Memory Player and Which Color Do You Choose For A Rainy Day?, are simpler that I just really the art direction and use color, which is sparingly, yet bold. Have a look.
