Four Days Of Short Stories I

Four Days Of Short Stories is writing exercise/event I'm doing this weekend (Friday, Nov. 2 - Monday, Nov. 5) where I write an original short story everyday for four days. I'm going to post them here, in this post, and also here. I do not promise that the stories will good, just that they will be written in a day. The idea is to quickly come up with an original concept and run with, to experiment, and try out new styles. It's a learning and experimenting exercise.

Also, anyone is welcome to write stories along with me and post them here as well; even if they cannot write all four days. If you plan on doing so please follow the few guidelines.
  • An original unused concept (ideas you'll had but haven't written are fine)
  • No sequels/prequels/continuations to any of your old/current stories
  • Experiment
  • Try to make it a full stand-alone story
  • Must be posted by 11:59 PM of that day
  • Have fun!
Also, the stories should be between 1-4 pages (to be manageable) be can be longer. There isn't any set theme or motif, but if you're having trouble coming up with a story idea try this: The theme of boredom or try making the boring or ordinary event you can think of unique or strange.

Lastly, note that it says Four Days Of Short Stories 'I,' I may do this again if this first one goes well. I'm doing this to improve my own writing ability and to get myself run with concepts less stressfully and to writing quicker (looking at you Elevator Music).

UPDATE 1 (11/2/12): Day 1 Story added below. Read it in all its unedited glory!

UPDATE 2 (11/3/12): Day 2 Story added below.

UPDATE 3 (11/4/12): Day 3 Story added below.

UPDATE 4 (11/5/12): Day 4 Story, the final story, added below.

UPDATE 5 (11/6/12): Day 0 Test Story added.

Uniqlock: Have Fun While Getting The Current Time

Let's Have Some Fun!!
I found this really cool site today called Uniqlock. It a really cool Japanese site that I believe makes clothing, but the reason why I think it's cool has got nothing to with designer jeans. The site has this really unique flash based global clock that is set to music and highlighted by Japanese dancers. It's really quite mesmerizing. Have a look for yourself. I've embedded its video after the jump and also place a small version of it on the right hand side of the blog under the radio. Now, know what time it is in style!

Dead Drops (Not The Ones In Infamous)

Hey, this is a cool project I discovered thanks to one of my friends on Facebook. The project is an offline, peer-to-peer file sharing network. The project was started by Aram Bartholl and works by embedding flash drive in walls in the public space. Everyone is invited to use the Dead Drops--putting files on them and/or taking files off and more importantly making their own. Watch their video below and check out there website here. (Grammar, if there are issues, will be fixed when I get home tonight.)

Seriously, How Old Is The Blonde One?

Okay, I've got a question: How old do you think the blonde chick in this book is? I thinks she looks X age but the book says she is Y age. I don't want to lead anyone's answer so I'm not giving away the book's title or author or what I think and what the book claims. Because maybe I'm crazy and everyone in the world thinks she's Y age.
So, tell me your answer. I scanned a bunch of picture from the book. Man, this drove me crazy while I was reading the book. Anyway, the rest of the pictures are after the jump.

P.S.: My 100th post!

Weekend Theater: Croton Falls and XOXOSMS

I need to invest in Photoshop
Hey, guys, welcome to first edition of Weekend Theater, something that probably won't happen again for a long while. Anyway, about a year ago I backed a few short films on Kickstarter  and two them are finished and and doing a full streaming this weekend. The first one is Croton Falls by Joseph Marconi, video and description below, and the other one is XOXOSMS by Nancy Schwartzman. XOXOSMS is having free full preview of the movie on their website here only for this weekend! Go watch it them both and support the filmmakers, cast, and crew!

Description: In the near future during the bleak winter of 2015 mankind is discovering that the mind is evolving… people are experiencing and manipulating their realities through a communal shared consciousness. Will Kent awakes on a train headed upstate New York to his hometown of Croton Falls. After his fiancĂ© leaves him and his writing career tailspins he leaves New York City to reconcile with his emotions and restore some sense of purpose to his life. But after reconnecting with his parents and some old friends he finds his reality slowly unraveling blurring the lines between the real and the imaginary. And as Will fights to hold on to his sanity a disturbing truth begins to emerge.
