Elevator Music Can Be Good Music Too Update 10 ~ [11/25/12]

I'm a bit sick today, so I'm going to keep it short. First thing first. Episode 1's script is finished! If you checked out the Main Page earlier this month, I put it in my new Google Drive folder. I was going to polish it some more but I haven't changed it since then. Seems like it is final time to move on to Episode 2.

Second, I made a Google Drive folder for Elevator Music. The great thing about this is I can easily put files up, so if I make tweaks throughout the month before I do the next Update I can just put the file there. Google Drive even allows you guys to comment directly on the script. Also, the link path does change, so I never need to change it as I upload more files which is god for me. Check it out, I put the Song List and an extra scene in there too.

The last thing I want to say is that while the first episode didn't turn out bad, it did, my opinion turn out below my expectations. I thinking about rewriting it. As you can see from the Script, it has some of my notes on it. But one major note I didn't put in the Script is something I heard from a writer a while ago: "Every town is a story." I thing that is the one of the problems with the first episode, is that we spend a lot of time in Collis' dimension--his town, but it does that story, or character. It's just a place that goes to and leaves. This is even more apparent when looking at the next episode where there are (depending how I split it up) two or three main place and they all have a distinctive character, with the major place have a story behind it. I want to give that to Collis' home, especially since he's a main character. I want his home to explain a bit as to why he wants to explore so much. I got a few ideas, but I still working on them.

I actually wrote as about as much as I did last time. Hmm. Anyway, please take a look at the Episode 1 Script and comment on it, which, like always, is located below. Thanks for reading and I hope guys had a good Thanksgiving. Seeya next time.

Best Quote of the Week ~ [11/25/12]

"Remember: It costs nothing to encourage an artists, and the potential benefits are staggering. A pat on the back to an artists now could one day result in your favorite film, or the cartoon you love to get stoned watching, or the song that saves your life. Discourage an artist, you get absolutely nothing in return, ever."

Best Quote of the Week ~ [11/18/12]

"That’s what I think the function of art is: It creates a mirror and you’re supposed to better yourself and you move and you grow, in the same way that personal relationships do or romantic relationships do. When you look at it that way, then everything you’re doing, as long as it’s helping you, prepares yourself for death, which means becoming a better person, and letting go of all the ego trips."

Mars Volta On Hiatus, Bosnian Rainbows Shine

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has decided to put his baby, The Mars Volta, on an indefinite hiatus and it has been so since September. However, the as working Omar has created a new band, Bosnian Rainbows, along with fellow Mars Volta alumni Deantoni Parks on drum, Teri Gender Bender of Le Butcherettes as lead vocalist, and Nicci Kasper on the keyboard. Bosnian Rainbows is touring right and performing all new material! After listening to a few of their songs I can honestly I love this new band and wait to hear more. Omar remarks that this band is actually a band and that he is not "dictator" here but a team player--there a collaborative effort here. It's a bit sad to see Mars Volta on hiatus, but everyone is working on projects and Bosnian Rainbows one hell of a start. Check out videos and pictures of the band after the jump! Go now; they're awesome!

Also, check out a full interview with Omar from CityArtsOnline.com in the source.

UPDATE 1 (2/19/13):
Mars Volta has officially disbanded. Cedric Bixler-Zavala gave a statement few weeks ago. Truly sad, but this is how things are sometimes. We do have the awesome Bosnian Rainbows to look forward too, as well as something from Cedric in the near future.

Best Quote of the Week ~ [11/11/12]

"I could see the planet as it appeared from space. That's when it finally hit me. Space exploration is nothing but another game in the power struggle between the US and USSR. Politics, economics, the arms race - they're all just arenas for meaningless competition. I'm sure you can see that. But the Earth itself has no boundaries. No East, No West, No Cold War."

Best Quote of the Week ~ [11/4/12]

"Then I saw it. I saw a mom who would die for her son. A man who would kill for his wife. A boy, angry and alone; laid down in front of him the bad path. I saw it. And the path was a circle. Round and round. So, I changed it."
